TTIP & CRMs

On 24 February 2016, during the 12th round of the Transatlantic Trade & Investment Partnership negotiations, Maurits Bruggink, the Secretary General of the CRM Alliance, gave a presentation at the TTIP stakeholder engagement event. During his presentation, Mr. Bruggink gave a brief overview of the main differences between the EU and U.S. concerning critical raw materials, provided two examples of applications where critical raw materials are absolutely essential, and outlined TTIP’s opportunity for promoting the importance of critical raw materials for the transatlantic economy. According to Mr. Bruggink,“TTIP has the potential to align both EU and U.S. trade policies for critical raw materials”, adding that “these policies should incorporate principles of both free and fair trade, which includes no additional red tape for SMEs”.
