JRC Report highlights the need to secure access to CRMs for the defence sector

A report, published by JRC, on “Materials dependencies for dual-use technologies relevant to Europe’s defence sector” analyses five dual-use technologies areas and the CRMs needed for their development: i) advance batteries (5 CRMs), (ii) fuel cells (11 CRMs), (iii) robotics (19 CRMs), (iv) unmanned vehicles (UVs) (23 CRMs) and (v) additive manufacturing (3D printing)(8 CRMs).

The report aims to support the European Commission in the preparation of future initiatives to foster sustainability of strategic supply chains as well as assess bottlenecks in the supply of materials needed for the development of technologies that are important to Europe’s defence and civil industries.
