On 10 March 2023, European Commission President Ursula von Der Leyen and U.S. President Joe Biden agreed to begin negotiations on a targeted critical raw materials agreement.
The future agreement should allow the EU to be treated as a trading partner of the United States and, consequently, allow EU companies to benefit from the Inflation Reduction Act.
Apparently, a roadmap of the agreement is already on the table.
This agreement comes at a time when the EU is ramping up its actions on raw materials and critical raw materials with the Net Zero Industry Act and the Critical Raw Materials Act expected to be published shortly.
