On 17 May, the ENVI Committee adopted its reports on the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) and on the EU Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS).
The CRM Alliance opposes the European Parliament ENVI Committee both reports for setting unrealistic and disruptive targets and calls upon the legislator to reject the proposals.
These reports should be opposed for the following reasons:
Unrealistic timeframes
Extension of the scope to new sectors to be avoided
Consideration of the current challenges
Maintain free allowances ratio
The CRM-A calls on the European Parliament to support realistic targets and rectify the shortcomings of the ENVI Committee’s report during the June Plenary session. We also urge the Council of Ministers to object the proposals made by ENVI.
